This St. Patrick’s Day weekend, join us to support Paul Dongarra, candidate for County Council, District One, and a leader committed to protecting open space, safeguarding our drinking water, and reshaping how growth happens in our communities.

Protecting open land is not just about beauty, it is about clean water, flood mitigation, and public health. It is about redeveloping underused and largely empty parking lots instead of sacrificing remaining green space. It is about ensuring that the last remaining parcels of open land are preserved for future generations, not lost forever to short-term speculation.

For too long, local governance has been dominated by a development lobby that effectively chose our councilperson for us, privatizing the profits of development while socializing its costs onto taxpayers and neighborhoods. This campaign is about taking local government back, promoting Smart Growth, and ensuring that development is equitable, sustainable, and centered on community needs.

There is an old Irish proverb that asks:
“Is this a private fight, or can anyone jump in?”

We are inviting you to jump in. Roll up your sleeves. Help build a future where growth strengthens communities, protects natural resources, and allows us to reinvest in the places that have been neglected for far too long.

It’s time to stand up, District One.
